Product description

Fat and carbohydrate oxidation account for over 90% of muscular energy production in maximal exercise events of ≥5 min duration. This fuelling process requires adequate oxygen (O2) supply which, however, is limited. Thus, optimize oxygen efficiency is crucial in endurance exercise. Research indicates that nitrate supplementation, for instance in the form of beetroot juice, can enhance oxygen efficiency. Nitrate intake increases blood nitric oxide (NO) content, indeed. NO provides a potential extra route of oxygen atoms (O) supply to muscle cells. NO also plays an important role in exercise-induced increase in muscle blood flow. In addition, some findings indicate that NO can facilitate calcium release in muscle cells, which may facilitate maximal power development. It has become well established that nitrate intake can improve endurance performance by a 1-5% increase, and possibly also power output in sprinting.

Available studies indicate 400-600 mg to be the optimal dose. Nitrate in fact is a natural ingredient of eatable plants, green leafy and root vegetables in particular. But the nitrate content in vegetables is variable and often unknown. In contrast 6d Nitrate Shot always contains 500 mg of nitrate sourced from beetroot and red spinach. Excessive nitrate intake may be detrimental to health though. Therefore, stick to the dosage recommended, and limit the use to peaking performance to major competitions. There is no evidence that nitrate intake at the recommended rates, and in combination with vitamin C (like the 6d Nitrate Shot), could negatively impact health status. But 6d Nitrate Shot intake can produce red-coloured urine due to the natural presence of red colourants in beetroots, which is harmless.

6d Nitrate Shot is the ideal natural supplement to boost your performance in endurance competitions, and potentially sprint performance.

Suggested use

Take 1 shot 2-3 hours before competition. An additional 1-2 shots per day for 3-7 days prior to competition is recommended in highly trained (endurance) athletes. Shake before use.

Avoid mouthwash or chewing gum for optimal effect. The conversion of nitrate (NO3) to nitric oxide (NO) requires abundance of normal bacteria in the oral cavity. Therefore, the use of 6d Nitrate Shots is meaningless in individuals using anti-bacterial chewing gum or mouth-rinsing solutions.
