Product description

Carbohydrates are the most important energy source during intensive exercise. Due to the body’s limited storage capacity for carbohydrates, it is recommended to provide carbohydrates via the diet during (intensive) exercise of 60 minutes or longer.

Additionally, both mental and physical fatigue has a negative effect on exercise performance lasting over 90 minutes. In such situations, the intake of caffeine can help to maintain physical performance. This is mainly due to the central effect that caffeine has on the brain, lowering your perception of effort, which increases your pain threshold. In addition, the intake of caffeine can also promote mental sharpness or alertness.

The 6d ENERGY + CAFFEINE GEL contains 30g of carbohydrates in a 2:1 glucose to fructose ratio. Thanks to this 2:1 ratio the body can absorb up to 90g of carbohydrates per hour. In contrast to most other gels, this gel also contains 200mg of sodium. The addition of sodium allows for a quick replenishment of the salt reserves in the body. This is particularly important for athletes who not only sweat a lot, but also sweat out lots of salts, and especially during exercise in a hot environment that causes high sweat losses.

In addition to 30g carbohydrates and 200mg of sodium, the 6d ENERGY + CAFFEINE is supplemented with 75mg of caffeine. Ideal during prolonged endurance exercise (e.g. marathon) to increase the caffeine concentrations in the blood in the buildup to the most decisive moment of competition (e.g. steep climb or final of a race), and/or to be able to maintain the caffeine concentration in the blood during prolonged endurance exercise.

Suggested use

Use 1-2 gels per hour of effort, with a maximum of 5 gels per day

Take 1-2 gels 30 to 60 minutes before a decisive moment of competition when a mental and physical boost is desired.

Thereafter, 1 gel per hour is sufficient to maintain the caffeine concentration in the blood during prolonged endurance exercise.

Because of the high concentration of carbohydrates (sugars) and sodium, it is recommended to always use the 6d ENERGY + CAFFEINE GEL in combination with water. This to ensure good absorption and to minimize the risk of gastrointestinal complaints during exercise.
